New Publication: TMS coil performance via multi-person comparison

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) target specific brain areas for treatment/diagnosis of motor function. However, the target area can be mislocalised due to complex brain anatomy and TMS coils design. Recent studies report the electric field focality using various coils, but have been limited to simplified head models or a small number of detailed models. Up to now, no method has been developed to appropriately evaluate the coil performance on a group level of subjects. This study investigates the induced electric field by registering the computed electric field of several subjects in a standard brain space for different coil designs, so the coil performace is optimal for a target population.
